Jerky video in WMP, but fine in DivX player

Postby HellsBells on Tue Jul 08, 2003 11:56 am

Some .avi files I have play fine in WMP but with others the video is jerky, seeming out of sync with the audio. Since said videos use a DivX codec, I tried them in the DivX player (versions 2.0 and 2.1) and they play just fine - no jerks, everything in sync.

I've updated all the DivX codecs, run the questionable vids through GSpot to confirm they are error free and I have all the codecs required. The only thing I have not done is update WMP (currently running version 7.01.00.3055 on a Win98 SE machine).

Any thoughts or solutions? Is an upgrade to WMP the next step?

I use media player 6.4 on my Win98SE 1Ghz with 256MB ram. With some videos I have had to reduce the processing to keep the sound and video from going out of sync. Go to File>Properties>Advanced>Click on the various codecs>Properties>Move sliders to low, change 16bit to 8bit, etc.

This might be under Edit>Options... in WMP7
