Immatures in WinMX

WOW... did I make the mistake of asking for help in WinMX chatroom!
Thought it was supposed to be a help room for WinMX problems?

I don't need total immatures in this type of room if one can't get straight answers.

It really made me feel sorry I asked for help.

Is there anyplace I can get "mature" answers?

Can I get a response to a question here ? I'm having a problem with WinMX and the patch. When I try to update the file using Pie Auto updater and click on "Manual update now" I get the error;
"Error while updated Hosts file. Please make sure that an internet connection is available and the file is not marked read-only. Path/File access error."
Is this because PGLite is a locked file ? I didn't lock it and haven't been able to unlock it.
I have Windows XP and WinMx 3.53 and Pie Auto updater installed. My hard drive crashed two weeks ago and I was able to get on using this setup two weeks ago but not last week. When I load Win MX I don't see the message about Vladd Help which I believe I saw the time it worked.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Jim did you go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and check properties to see if it is "Read Only" ? If it is you need to uncheck that box or if you get "Denied Access" at that point you need to have Administrative Privileges or get someone who has.

1. When you come into any room with a chip on your shoulder you're more likely to get it knocked off than answers to your questions (if you ever get around to actually asking them).
2. There is no such animal as WinMX V3.6 (except for the odd $cam).
3. We are not affiliated with WinMX Help Room but I imagine they have the same intolerance towards mouthy f**k as we do.
4. You were not in VLADD44 help but just plain old Vladd44. We don't mind helping users when we can, but again, your chip got in the way.

WinMX ended with 3.54Beta, so if you got V3.6 you do not have a version of WinMX that was ever released by Frontcode.

That was it, thank you. I don't know how that would have been set to read only but that was it. I was preoccupied with the fact that the file was locked and thought that was causing the problem.

For the record it wasn't me that FM-WinMX was talking to in the chatrooms. The first (and last) time I ever addressed him was my posting here (Posted: Today at 06:51).. I found out who/what he was talking about by scrolling back in both rooms.
