How 2 uninstall WinMx when WinMx.exe-program folder is lost?

Postby enzodiak49 on Tue Nov 20, 2007 5:08 am

Does anyone know how to remove WinMx when all of a sudden, the program and its folder no longer can be retrieved?

I tried the PieAutoUpdater and forgot to shut down WinMx and since then, I have not been able to find where on my drive the WinMx.exe is, but the program starts up each time I reboot my pc - Please advice me /enzodiak

Not sure i understand what you mean, but the normal location for Winmx.exe would be Local Disc C: >>> Program files >>> Winmx

Should be in that folder, if not, try doing a search for Winmx on your computer.

re: How to locate/uninstall WinMx when program folder is los

Postby enzodiak49 on Tue Nov 20, 2007 8:38 am

Hi - I hope you received my reply - as I was sending it, this site went down. Anyway, I'll recapture my reply in case you did not get it.

I have done a search and the only file with a resemblance is: "WINMX.EXE-06FBD93C.pf" in the folder: C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch

Even when I take a look at the add/remove program folder, it is not listed as a program to remove.

Cheers, thank's alot, enz

enzodiak49, the patch u r using right now is going to make yr comp very slow. It is a copycat patch made by a rogue site ... pls note these r the official sites for Pie Auto Updater : http://www.mxpie.org

Pls do this :

1. Close WinMX totally
2. Uninstall WinMX :
Click Start »» Settings »» Control Panel
Double click on Add or Remove Programs »» Remove WinMX
3. Search for WinMX.exe and Delete all found
4. Delete the WinMX directory:
Usually it's in: C:\Program Files\WinMx
5. Empty Recycle Bin
6. Install PieAutoUpdater »» from here:
http://www.vladd44.com/files/PieAutoUpdater.exe
7. Right click on Pie Auto Updater icon on yr systray at the bottom right of your screen next to the time/date display and click Manual Update Now.
You will see the pglite icon disappear and re-appear shortly to indicate update is done.
8. Reinstall a fresh WinMX 3.53 »» from here:
http://www.vladd44.com/mx/winmxmirror.php
9. Come back here to check settings:
Vladd44 Help Room_B58C2418411C
Please follow each steps closely and do not skip anyone of them or you may have to re-do it all over again.

Do that and u will be ok, enzodiak49. Drop by the Vladd44 Help room here if u need further help : http://www.vladd44.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=6514
