How to remove Vodei 2.0 MP from video files

That's the conclusion I've come to. The vodei "counter" also racks up on its "free" quota when you hover over the file in explorer.

It's a pain in the ass but I've found that you can reset the counter by dong an XP system restore back to a date before the counter ran out.

Hi.Just successfully burnt to VCD (could be any format ) a vodei avi using Cucusoft MPEG MOV RM AVI to DVD VCD SVCD MPEG Converter Pro 7.02.Just have to click on register later while converting.Played back fine.

Is there some way of deleting all traces in the registry so I can reinstall Vodei.. and yes, I have created a system restore point now.

hey all, i using suse10.1 and got stung by this ultra crap Vodei, i consider myself rather lenient but this is ultra crap, not you guys, i think this site is a godsend but i have no idea how to extract the Avi, or how to remove Vodei from the file, Im using KDE and would love to view this movie... any help would rock, thanks

When I go to click play after i have the layout of everything in graphic edit, i get the vodei message to register...and the later button isn't highlighted. so graphic edit doesn't run the movie...is there anyway around this?

I guess I am one of the fortunate few where everything (in original post) worked great!

Two things that may help some of you...

1) I too had trouble finding the "dump" filter (the link http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/audio-extract.htm - is broken - no longer exists) in graphedit. I finally found the requisite file "dump.ax" here: http://www.apecity.com/tivo/ Put the file in the C:\windows\system32 or C:\winnt\system32 directory. Then, from a command prompt type in "regsvr32 dump.ax". Now when you run graphedit, the dump filter will show up under DirectShow filters.

2) I too had the Vodei registration/warning come up when I selected the "play" button in graphedit. I simply "x'd" it away (clicked the x in the upper right corner of the popup window). The graphedit program continued to run and create the appropriate files.

same problem, cant click on the "later" button (the others steps are fine). Uninstal didnt help, not even the registry cleaning. Anny idea how to skip it or bypass it? Im desperate.

In my experience on my system I think I can refine the process and add maybe 2-3 steps:

OK first get VMware workstation on a 30 day trial; this is industry used software no spyware or an other junk.

I can provide you with a zip file with a xp pro workstation set up but it's 300mb (my upstream is SLOW), hopefully you guys have an xp pro sp2 disc (or xp home or sp1 should be fine) as it is a bit of a pain to megaupload it but i will just to f%#$ over this vodei creep .

ok once you have a virtual machine with xp sp2 installed you need run the machine and install vmware tools, its an option in VM menu on program main toolbar.

make sure your virtual machine's hard drive has enough space for following:

Any vodei infected avi files you want to robert smith (cure)
ffdshow
grafedit
vodei 2.0

highlight these and drag in to the vmware window and drop (copy)

Now you have the files on your virtual machine you can
install ffdshow
install grafedit
in the grafedit folder run the registration to get the dump option
install vodei

don't worry if the video is upside down and flipped horizontally - you don't have the right codes for playback but this won't be a problem

follow toejam's steps to use grafedit

when you have the clean avi and mp3 highlight and right click copy, now go to a folder on your actual machine and paste.

Now use vdub mod and divfix (on your actual machine) as per toejam's guide

The beauty of this method is that vodei isn't on your actual machine and if it wants you to register you can just delete the virtual machine and create a new one and reset the vodei counter, there's other ways of doing this but snapshot is disabled in my version and it once you know what your doing setting up a virtual machine is not long.

Vmware trial is only 30 days but if you uninstall and get a new key to a different email you should be able to use it when you need for free (this is my second install of trial vmware)

I'd advise to only use vodei files if there isn't another version and the file is very important.

I get the following message when trying to use the vodei mp splitter filter in graphedit:

The filter could not be created. Resources used by this filter may already be in use. Classfactory cannot supply requested class. (Return Code 0x80040111)

I tried the instructions and when I press play in graph edit it says I need to register because vodei expired for me is there anyway to get around this?I also could not find dump in graph edit could you be more detailed where it is I looked under D in directshow filters and it's not there for me and can't find it anywhere?

Will this work with vodei 2.1? I downloaded a bunch of videos long ago and since have moved them onto a new computer where I don't have vodei installed. If you have a link where I can download vodei 2.0 just to ensure this method works correctly that would be great. I'm sure the maker of vodei has updated his wrapper in 2.1 to further prevent people from hacking it and I don't want to chance it not working on my old vodei 2.0 videos.

I downloaded the new Vodei program from their website which im assuming is 2.1 but the videos require 2.0 so it worked fine for me without any problems.

if you didn't pay it will expire I have same version. remove this wrapper with the instructions if you can, otherwise movies will stop and you will not be able to play again if they have this vodei wrapper junk

Hi ,
I tried converting a video using the steps defined on the first page (Image was not visible, still managed to connect the boxes) but when I press the play button nothing happens.. Even when I tried moving the slider it gave me an error (see attached pic)
