ad-hoc hocked from someones throat?

ok so i moved and im tryin to set up an ad-hoc for my cousins pc. he has the wired internet connection and i lent him a usb adapter and i set up the ad-hoc but when i turn on ics it disconnects from the wired net and then both our pcs are without net any ideas what im doing wrong?
