HELP PLEASE! Problems cuting an MPG file with TMPGEnc

Postby OSO_ROBBIE on Sun Apr 04, 2004 2:56 am

Hello
My name's is Robbie.
I have a 895MB movie and I need to cut it in 700MB and 195MB. I can't find 800MB anywhere here.
The thing is when I set the start and the end for cuting it using MPEG Tools, when I hit run it only cuts 195MB of 700MB. What's going on? Why it cuts less than I've marked?
Can anybody help me please?
Thanks.
Robbie.

With tmpgenc tools you need to split it twice, once for the first 700 and once for the 195. Here's a guide on doing this with TMPGEnc tools:

Hello and thank you for your answer...
I did what that guide says, but still, the first piece should be 75 minutes long and it cuts at 15 minutes, is like if it were an trial version where u can only cut 15 minutes. I do exactly what that guide describes but it only cuts 15 minutes, anyone ever had the same problem?

No, it's never happened to me to be honest, it should cut where you tell it to. There is a freeware version of TMPGEnc and the retail version is TMPGEnc Plus, I don't know which you have, but it has been so long since I used the standard TMPGEnc freeware version that I couldn't say for sure whether that would be one of the limitations, but it would seem like a very strange limitation to me indeed. As far as I know the only difference between TMPGEnc and TMPGEnc Plus are that the former will only encode to vcd, whereas the latter will encode to svcd and dvd mpeg. But not sure. I would try reinstalling TMPGEnc, but I'm also wondering if your file could have a fault at the 15 minute mark.

Hi, and thank you again
I'm using the freeware version too.
Maybe it is the mpg file I'm trying to split, I didn't try using another movie.
anyway, thanks!
