HELP NEEDED PLEASE!!

Postby Hunter on Sat Jan 21, 2006 7:52 am

Hi! I'm pretty new to Torrent downloading, and just need some help on a few things. I use Azureus to download all my torrent. So far I have 2 files downloaded, both DVD quality. What I want to do is put these 2 files on a DVD+RW blank CD. Now...one of the files I downloaded opens up in Windows Media Player and has perfect video, but no sound. The other one plays just find in WMP. I am using a free trial version of a DVD burning software called "GEAR." I am trying to put the file that is working well on DVD. Well I tried multiple options when trying to burn this file onto DVD. I did the "DVD AUDIO ISO/UDF", "DVD-VIDEO ISO/UDF", and "DVD-ROM ISO/UDF" options, and none of them burned the file. I would put it in my DVD player and it said it couldn't read the disk. Can someone explain what I need to do once the file is downloaded to burn it onto DVD? Thank you so much.

Hunter, it depends on what kind of files you have.

I am moving this to video section where it is likely to be viewed by dap our resident expert.

In the meantime, any information you would like about video encoding should also be available at her site http://rita.lt/

Well the reason that it didn't play or didn't have audio in WMP is because of codecs, and I suggest you use a different player anyway, because Microsoft players often won't play non-microsoft based encodes. But more importantly, you said your file was "dvd quality," but you didn't say whether it was actually a dvd format. What is the original format of the file you downloaded? .avi? .mpg? dvd (.vob, .ifo, .bup)?
What you tried to do from what I can gather from the options you mentioned is to burn a dvd data disk, like a game. I can guess that that's not what you want to do. And on a last note, not all dvd players will play rewritable disks, so make sure that yours does.
