Help getting WinMX online again and temp suggestions for oth

Postby quench on Thu Sep 21, 2006 7:48 pm

Please help... I use to use WinMX all the time (3.53) until the system was shut down... In the last couple of weeks I noticed this forum and tried all the solutions that I could find... I tried with and without MXpie patch 3.2... cannot connect or go to Vladd44 Help Room_381F31461F40 which I see posted everywere for help...

Part of the issue may be that I need to be on a router (I have free access to port forward if needed)... I just have limited direct access to the router to try and make a direct connection... (I share a connection with my neighbor who has the direct connection; I have a wireless connection to his router)

Until I am able to get WinMX up and running again, are there any suggestions as to other compatible programs that can help me finish downloading my partial WinMx files?

I am currently using eMule 0.46c with no issues... did not even have to port forward... just downloaded and installed... only thing is that it cannot finish the WinMX file downloads...

While I know everyone has preferences, I really liked the eMule and WinMX combination for ease of set up and use... Really want to get WinMX up again or at least for the short term a recommendation for another program that can help me finish downloading the partial WinMx files...

Thanks in advance to all who try to help...

Vladd44 Help Room hash just changed like 2 days back.

If u cannot locate the room, simply hit Vladd44 Help Room in the Filter and go to the Vladd44 Help Room or bookmark this thread http://www.vladd44.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=6514 where we keep the Vladd44 room names and hashes current.

Tried to log in... I have zero channels and WinMX is in a constant state of "connecting"...

I cannot get a connection...

Any help working through the router with settings would be appreciated...

I am using a Linksys Cable / DSL Router with 4 port switch...

Thanks in advance...

In the meantime, anyone have any luck with other programs that would allow me to finish my partial downloads that were started with WinMX?

Thanks

U do not need to be connected to WinMX to come to Vladd44 Help Room here : http://www.vladd44.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=6514 where we can help u with router configuration.

Alternatively, u can try to do router configuration using Magic Formula here : http://www.vladd44.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=6216

U can't finish ur downloads in WinMX with other programs. U can only use WinMX to finish downloading yr partial incompletes which u have downloaded from WinMX.

Could not get into the room...

Things that I notice...

1. "Finding network connections" stays yellow... and top left of program always says "connecting"....

2. When I try to go to the mentioned room, nothing happens... at the bottom of the page it says "zero channels" and at the top it says "connecting"...

My firewall is turned off and just to make sure, I also disabled my anti-virus...

Also installed and uninstalled WinMX and the Pie Patch from the recommended links... tried with and without the patch...

Thank you...

Hi, am having exactly the same problem as quench was, and my router is the same as his as well.

I have taken all the steps, and forwarded my ports which took hours. I have set up emule to work with high id using the port forwarding with the following entries below, but still nothing.

Have tried everything quench mentions, including downloading pie etc, have been through all steps of the magic formula, but nothing i do works....

It just stays on "finding network connection" on yellow do i'm baffled as to what else to try. The problem is so complex i will be staggered if anyone can get it working, but thought it was worth asking anyway

"Before we can forward ports for WinMX, we need to figure out what ports WinMX is using. Here is a brief walkthrough on how to do that. Go ahead and open up WinMX.

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default the username is admin, and the password is admin. Click the Ok button to log in to your router.

6699
6257 all set up and ticked. but still not working,.

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. WinMX requires you to forward the ports you entered above. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Port Range Forwarding menu.

Port Range
Application Start End Protocol IP Address Enabled
BOTH 192.168.1. "

Hey sam, what is the sentence u see on the left of yr Ignored button at the top of yr winmx (the Ignored button is the one with the red circle on it?) <<< pls answer this ... it is the 1st step to the troubleshooting process.

Alternatively, come to this Vladd44 Help Room for help (which u can enter whether u r connected to winmx or not). Just follow the instructions here to enter it : http://www.vladd44.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=6514

Thanks love 8)

The sentence just above the ignored button is WINMX v3.54beta 4 seeking p = 0(flashing ) s =0 spm=0

Is this the sentence you mean? There is what appears to be a box durectly to the left of the ignore button, but it is completely blank and i think its just part of the display.

Love,

Just to let you know that its now working. I don't really know what I did, other than reinstalling it (which i'd done a few times before with no luck) and its connected straight away

Sorry for the trouble, but thanks for the help anyway :!:

If yr answer to the above ? is blank (as in yr case, sam) pls follow the instructions on this link :
http://www.vladd44.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=10284

Doing the above will ensure yr winmx runs flawlessly, sam.
