I have a problem with HR HDTV files. When I play them about one third of the video appears hashed or corrupted when played with the correct codec on Windows Media Player 10. Is it because I have an older monitor and the screen resolution is not high enough? If so what is the minimum spec for a monitor to view these files in their full glory?
It can be either the monitor, or the graphics card, or both. They both need to be able to handle the resolution. HR.HDTV is HDTV source (1920*1088,29.97i or 1280*720,59.94p), 960x528 WS resolution and AC3 audio. I would also suggest using something like WinDVD or PowerDVD to view the files and see if that helps, as some software players can't handle the high resolution files either. (I personally wouldn't use WMP for anything, it takes way too many resources just to run itself, not to speak of playing the actual video). You can also have trouble playing them if you have an old and slow computer.
