Hard Drive Full My Ass!!!

Postby Quick_Little_Fingaz on Sun Jan 11, 2004 9:33 am

I keep getting the error message "I/O Error - Drive is Full" when using Torrent Storm, and BT 3.3. I have deleted 6Gigs of data to make room, and i still get this goddamned message. I have tried to change drives, client, rebooted, and cursed a bit too. Nothing seems to work - any ideas?

not exactly sure quick, but one thing i do know is this...
when bt starts a dl, it creates a dummy file that is as large as the file it is downloading.....
Jewish Kid: Is anyone else having problems concentrating on this? I just can't seem to concentrate.
Cartman: Maybe we should send you to a concentration camp.

just some thoughts

Maybe it's too simple a solution, but did you make sure to empty your recycle bin? I only notice the space being seen once I empty what I've just deleted.

Vladd's reply regarding the dummy file is true also (though I think you can choose not to immediately allocate the entire file size with some clients, like shadow's). If you're trying to grab a big torrent, then maybe 6 gigs isn't enough room.

HArd Drive Full My Ass!!!

Postby Quick_Little_Fingaz on Mon Jan 19, 2004 1:50 pm

Glory Be to Me - I was right - the goddamned hard drive wasn't full. However, i unfortunatly overlooked the fact that FAT32 file systems only allow a maximum file size of 4.08Gigs. So - DVD ISO's wont fully fit - It is easy enough to change the type of filing system on your hard drive - i simply opened command prompt and typed the following: C:\> CONVERT C: /fs:ntfs
where the drive i wanted to change to NTFS was the C: drive. IF you only have one drive, or the one you want to convert holds the OS, then you will be allowed to make the changes on rebooting. For more info follow this link http://www.ntfs.com/quest3.htm

Cheers for suggestions tho :D
