What format file are you trying to burn? Have you converted it to DVD MPEG and then authored it?

I was going to write that Nero does not encode files to dvd format, but went to check just in case. This is from the Nero site:

"At this time, Nero/Nero Express will only work with VOB, IFO or BUP file formats. These formats can be created by software such as our NeroVision Express, which can convert AVI, MPEG and MPEG2 to the VOB, IFO and BUP format structure Note: You need to have the DVD Encoder installed for this conversion."

I would not use Nero to encode to anything anyway, but that's personal. But for the time being, you can't use it to encode to dvd format. You never did answer my question as to what format your file was, but let us assume that is is an avi. If so, then you would need to encode your avi to a DVD MPEG using something like TMPGEnc Plus and then author it with something like TMPGEnc DVD Author, and only then burn to dvd with Nero.

I need help guys

I used the step by step guide on this site, to format my dloaded movies, but im stuck as to where to go from here.
I used the virtualdub prog & the TMPEnc prog. But cant find a burning program that will burn the damm things. Its really frustrating. I keep burning it as data rather than vcd. Am i in the right direction at all?? :bang

when u say from this site, u mean to a mpg?

if so get nero, it will burn it as a vcd, onto a cd.

there is nothing on this site about burning anything to a dvd.
Jewish Kid: Is anyone else having problems concentrating on this? I just can't seem to concentrate.
Cartman: Maybe we should send you to a concentration camp.

VLadd makes a very good point, which I don't think you understand... You cannot burn a vcd to dvd as anything other than data. VCD and SVCD are specifically for cd's, hence the "cd" in the name. If you want to burn it to dvd you will either have to burn it as data or else convert it to dvd format (vob). As I said above I don't know how much Nero actually does as far as encoding goes, I don't use it. But I had suggested above that you can use TMPGEnc Plus to first encode to dvd mpeg, then author to dvd - NOT vcd for burning onto a dvd.
