WinMX will forever be known as the "p2p who survived"

Think how cool itd be........

Id love it....

So we must be able to do something.... Or is it really entirely impossible to make this work?

If the servers, were, are in txas there could be other reasons they are down. You know that pesky hurricane or the mass evfacuation?

A** Roughcut Audiobooks and more_2B0A32181A2B

we're here as long as we can be as well, so are most the rest of the audiobook rooms.

We also have a room up on filetopia, just in case.

April wrote:i just talked to Sabre (as in SabMX) and he's working on writing a peer cache server as i am writing this. Soon he will release a copy of SabMX that will work just fine and just like winmx did, but it will use a different peer cache. As soon as he does, we will be back in "business".

Only problem will be distribution. It won't have nearly as many people as winmx had because most of winmx's users have never stepped into a chat and would have no way of knowing there is a fix or where to get it.

good news will be the riaa won't have a copy for awhile so the fakes will all be gone

keep in mind this will be a temp solution till something permanent can be worked out as nobody wants sabre to end up in a legal mess either.

If he needs help with hosting of the peer cache, he will be in touch ...i told him plenty of people willing to help him out if he needs it can be found here and i hear he's currently parked in vladd's room

so all hope is NOT lost
how do i help?

We have been all waiting for such great news , we wouldn't let ourselves believe mx was gonna be gone for good if anything this has brought more rooms together and working together to make sure we all have the same update every1 will be very to happy to hear the latest news . You are all doing a great job thanks for all your hard work . We will understand if all is lost but we all still have hope. Long live MX !!!!

GAMES AND MOVIES CENTRAL_F9E6B6431A2B
We are still up, we can also be found on filetopia....hopefully temporarily.

everyone knows WinMX is the best... we have tested rooms using several p2p/chat proggies...... filetopia is a distant second to MX... god i hope MX survives

is it possible to change this thread title to something more blatently indicative of the fact that WinMX is DOWN, so the noob "OMFG winmx iz down!! plz hlp!!!!1!!1!one!!" thread flooding will stop?

I mean, I can understand how the noobs fail to associate 'Frontcode' with 'WinMX', and although it may be a bit of wishful thinking on my part (I'm intentionally ignoring the fact that they fail to notice how the forum is FULL of locked "OMFG winmx iz down!! plz hlp!!!!1!!1!one!!" threads, so I can remain blissfully ignorant of the fact that Humanity is doomed to stupidity), I think it may be worth a try.

American movies are getting worse.. Music don't seem to be getting much better either, P2P is the way to go !!! :)

The more they advertise it the bigger it becomes; they're better off not saying anything..

Well, in our case, I guess that means they're better off getting it all over the news as much as they want.. More users for us to share with :D

Well guys.... I personally think King Macro is right.... Winmx is going to be gone forever.. and there will be no chance or way we can save it. It makes me sad, i been using winmx for 6 yrs now. I met a lot of cool ppl...And i got a lot of Help on my comp from Vladd44.. I just hope April is right, that winmx is just changing locations! So i have one last thing to say ... That i thank the creators of Winmx and the owner of Winmx..Without them honestly i would have had a boring life... So thanks winmx for everything :(

How hard can it be? we all have the client, so now we wait for someone to fire up some server or other!

All we need are two things...

Someone needs to host a peer cache(s)

Someone needs to host a DNS server for us to plug into WinMX (important it is plugged into WinMX directly, since changing your regular system DNS settings could keep you off the Internet or open you up to all sorts of banking scams, etc).

Oh, need a copy of the peer cache software...guess thats three things or is that part of number one?

Hi ho hi ho off to IRC we go :D.

Nah, but I cannot even install WinMX to use OpenNap servers which I prefer to use! Says something about not being able to connect to test TCP ports or something.

How do you mean? I am learning how mx works for the first time since always taking it for granted that it did always work.

Websites do not all need there own indervidual dedicated DNS servers do they, so why would WinMX?

this is the same old song and dance. same things were said when napster went off.
Only suggestion i have is let sleeping dogs lie and move on and find another client.
