"shareaza unsafe ? shareaza is just as safe as the next p2p network. i just pray to dear god they dont get emule shutdown."

I would imagine that would be almost impossible with the amount of servers there :)

Channels are hosted on the computer of the host.
Jewish Kid: Is anyone else having problems concentrating on this? I just can't seem to concentrate.
Cartman: Maybe we should send you to a concentration camp.

From news.com.com search for title: Music sites caving to pressure from labels?

I liked this towards the end of the article:

Despite the legal wrangling, free file sharing has persisted, and many in the industry believe it is about to embark on a new era in which it will finally be embraced commercially by media companies for legitimate purposes.

"Six months from now, P2P usage will be beyond what it is today."

WE WILL SURVIVE!

I don't really have much to say that hasn't been said already :D just thought I'd post seeing as it's been over a year since I've posted on this forum... (The name "Can't sign in" was me :))

When I first starting getting to know what P2P was all about WinMX was pretty much the first thing I started using...

Just wondering about the history of it.. I've read that people say they've been using it for over 7-8 years but when I search on the history of it I can't find anything about it before 2001 or so... Anyone know about the complete history of it? Just wanna know how it all started and that kinda stuff...

Plus seeing as it will most likely not have much of a future it'll be good to learn more about its past..

Cheers.

If we only need to make our winmx connect to a different cache server then we don't need new client. We can do that using "hosts" file, we can simply specify any ip for domain "winmx.com" or "frontcode.com".
Updating hosts file is much easier than distibuting new winmx client between 1000's of people.
What do you think?

Downloading 'illegally' GENERATES revenue

I did a mini survey about 2 years ago which proved this and I would like the RIAA and MPAA or any other authority to also exercise this same survey.

Personally, whilst having watched numerous movies that I have not paid to see, many of these I would not have gone to watch at the cinema anyway (no loss of revenue,) and the ones I did enjoy I BOUGHT. In the past 2 years I have PAID FOR over 200 DVDs; almost all because I had chance to preview them first.

Ask these 2 questions and decide whether p2p is good or bad...

1. From the CDs / DVDs you have PAID FOR, how many are because you had the opportunity to preview the material first?

2. From the CDs / DVDs you have 'PIRATED', if you were unable to download them, how many would you have actually bought?

My survey showed that a HUGE proportion of peoples’ collections were as a result of downloading and that the pirated material they would have paid for was significantly lower, and in many cases zero.

Conclusion: 'piracy' pays, and the RIAA and MPAA etc should be supporting p2p not opposing it!!

Please note: from the top 20 ALL TIME grossing international BOX OFFICE takings (not even DVD sales,) 15 are since we have been able to download efficiently.
