Free Google Sitemap Generator php

It is designed to create sitemaps for your websites, unlike most of the online generators this script is not limited to 300 or 500 pages, it should generate sitemaps for even the largest of sites.

The current version only indexes the root and the first level of folders, it does not recursively search all folders on the site, most SEO experts suggest not burying folders inside of folders, so I am not encouraging people to do so.

Please post any problems, comments or other related information on this thread.

1. Updates every 24 hours upon demand.
2. If changed it will ping google to inform of update.
3. Easy to use.

Cleaned up a few myopic annoyances.
Added additional acceptable file extensions (shtml asp cgi jsp)
And added an email function to inform of changes.

Ok installed this and LOVE the simplicity of it.

A few questions have arisen, which I have resolved but I feel it would be benificial to anyone about to install or use Smap if i post them here.

Q: When you verify your site with a google .html file should that be included?

A: I have included this file in the sitemap as it's just a blank .html file with no contents and cannot have any adverse effects i'm aware of. Is this correct?

Q: The sitemap url in my robots.txt was http://www.poetspensieve.com/sitemap.xml It was unclear what it should be after installing smap because the location of the sitemap changes.

A: I've changed the sitemap url in my robots.txt to: http://www.poetspensieve.com/smap.php And also resubmitted that url as my sitemap to google. Is this correct?

These were the only questions that arose from installing Smap and now it's installed I NEVER have to manually update nor resubmit a sitemap to Google

It's worth mentioning to anyone installing this that when prompted by Smap which files you wish to include or be ignored that you simply allow any file that can be seen by users who naturally broswe your site.

Sounds good, probably worth V adding to instruction page to avoid any confusion, caught me out for a moment too.

I installed it on 2 different hosts, early betas of the script behaved rather differently on each host, V carefully ironed out those issues, but i think the permissions issue changes that may or may not be required will continue to vary from host to host.

2. Yes, update the sitemap location to http://www.yourbitchassdomain.com/smap.php

I will add it to the instructions for others clarification, if there are any other points that lack clarity please let me know.

Hi there.

I want to put this in the following directory of my site:

www.MYSITE.com/scripts/smap.php

Is there any way of telling the script that the root directory is elsewere? I.e. up one level?
