Files not Playing

Ok well i've d/l a couple of movies and they're all complete. But once i try to open them i get an error message saying its not a valid Win32 application. Now i'm confused because i have no idea what that meanz. They all were playing fine like a week ago but i had to reboot my whole computer over because it kept freezing, and now i can't open any movie files. Anything would help. Thanks, -:¦:- *Ci-Ci* -:¦:-

couple options to try:

1: rename the file so that it matches the file name on the web page you downloaded it from. So if it says .exe on your hard drive but says .zip on the website change it to .zip (note: you'll need to have file exentions viewable in the folder before you can re-name it. For XP - In windows explorer folder go to "tools" > "folder options" > click on "view" tab and find "hide extentions for know file types" and uncheck the box > click ok)

2: try using a different web browser.

3: Uninstall IE and then re-install it, then try downloading the file again.

IE uses the registry to determine the file name or extention of a file - if a registry key is damaged or missing you'll get this error.

Ok, I'm assuming you have the correct codec for the movie, a question I forgot to ask, but if you don't know, then you can find out which codecs you need by going here:

But since your computer is telling you it's not a win32 application (instead of unknown file format, which is what you usually get if you're missing a codec) you might try reinstalling your divx player and/or try viewing the files on a different player.

THere is also a possibility that's a bit worse. A worm or virus. For instance:

"When W32.HLLW.Tang@mm is executed, it does the following:
Displays the following fake message, if the %System%\MSTng32.exe file does not exist on the computer:
<filename> is not a valid Win32 application"

So do a virus scan on your computer too
