files have become folders !?!?!?

hello, i read the forums here quite a lot, but i just haven't got round to posting before....however -

i ran a shareware game demo and it's changed loads of my mpg files to folders !! (no other filetypes are affected)

i have no idea why, and a search hasn't yielded anything....so here i am...

i can still play the files...or folders...and there's apparently nothing wrong with them, so will the problem just go away when i reboot ?

i'm on w2k, and the game demo was designed for 95, so presumably that's my problem!!

maybe i should pay attention in the future.....

sounds like it just changed what the default open with is...right click one choose open with...check the alway use this program for this filetype option and pick what u used to open them with......
