Ethernet transfer PLEASE...!

Hi guys, I just got a new pc, and am trying desperately to transfer my MX files to it from my old pc.
Some of you may be laughing your a** off and I dont blame you!
OK, i got an Ethernet cable which apparently needs no HUB.
And thats about as far as Ive got....
Ive tried the XP home networking thing, no go. (New connections etc), but still no go.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me and a nice xmas present you will have!
