ERROR - Problem connecting to tracker

Postby sandy on Fri Jan 09, 2004 9:10 am

:( Hello,

My BT keeps on displaying the message "ERROR (TIME) - Problem connecting to tracker" every time i try and download a new torrent or resume an existing one. It was working last night (giving me the usual crap speeds of 5kb/s) but then this message just keeps on popping up. I left it on all night to make sure it wasn't a downed-server problem. I checked to see if i had NAT set up using http://www.u.arizona.edu/~trw/games/nat_or_not.php and so i've also configured my router to forward ports to the relevant machine. In addition, i've switched off WINXP firewall and STILL i'm getting this problem!!!!! AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

Can someone please offer any assistance?

Thanks! :)

so all ports ARE forwarded? ad DMZ? or the specific ports?

Have you tried torrents from a variety of trackers?

http://www.auditmypc.com/freescan/scanoptions.asp go here, see if any ports show up as open. The ports you forwarded should come through.

sounds ALOT like the tracker is down. Open up the tracker url and see what happens. And definatly try a different tracker to be sure that the problem is on your end.

I have used ABC, Shadow, Burst and Shareaza. None of them works except for Shareaza. I have checked if I NAT set up and I do but I don't know how to configure my router.

nat shouldnt really prohibit you from connecting to a tracker, since your computer initiates the "conversation". However if you are nat'ed, you will find your download speed incredibly slow and your upload ratio around 4 to 1. Great when your seeding, but lousy when your trying to get the latest file.

If you want to post the tracker site, anyone can look really quick and tell you what the problem is, or even better - the place where you got it should have it listed, unless you stole the torrent from such plac es as suckynova. If you dont want to post the tracker adddy, you could PM me with it. **edit - i can give you a similiar list of working trackers with some great stuff to get, or even host your torrent on my tracker**

I'm not sure what a router is but I think I have a router and a modem. The router is LanTech and the modem is Aztech.

For Lost Pup, I have tried every single torrent and everyone of them gets stuck with 'Problem connecticng to tracker' forever.
