DVD converter PLEASE guys...

Hi guys, can u please tell me a GOOD easy tool to convert my dvd files (vob i think), to avi or mpeg. What im trying to do is reduce the file size so i can upload more files, if u catch my drift, from like a squillion kb's to about 700mb.
