re: Downloads not connecting

Postby sondela626 on Wed May 21, 2008 1:30 am

Just got a new computer, the old one died but it was running Winmx on the same internet connection with no problems ( I have DSL with a dynalink modem, been using it for nearly two years with no connection problems)
My OS is XP same as before too..
I downloaded the PIE auto updater installed it manually and then downloaded Winmx, everything installed fine, it connects fine, searches, it will even put downloads in que for me, but nothing connects..
I can get into chat rooms too..
I run AVG and PC tools firewall plus, I have allowed winmx in everything, even in windows firewall though it is switched off..
In the window at the top in winmx it has the link to this forum..

re: Downloads not connecting

I have Windows Vista, i have been using Winmx 3.54 for about 90 days with a new computer now ... no problems. All of a sudden 3 days ago, i connect to winmx fine, i get files in my queue fine, but as the file connects and wants to DL, an error occurs and windows shuts down winmx. I am limited in some of the terms being thrown around with the fixes. I don't know the "host files" I don't know what version and/or patches i currently have for winmx besides 3.54. Do i have mxpie? mxworld? what patch should i try and why? My computer is very new (90 days old) The old computer had XP and winmx ran great! and until 3 days ago, it ran fine in Vista too. I also tried going into that Vladd44 Help Room_389C0779411C and i get no results searching for it. Any help would be ... helpful, thanks. :?

sondela - still need you to answer the questions vladd posted

bella - see if your modem is listed on portforward.com
go through the forwarding process but stay on secondary connection and change the port numbers to
TCP: 340
UDP: 27
if your isp calls and asks if your running an ftp server just tell them yes if they offer you some upgrade garbage tell them ur just fine on the connection you have =)

for the buffalo dude - open your program folder
program folder (x86) if your using a 64 bit version of vista wich you probably arent if you have a store bought pc even if it is equiped with a 64 bit processor
find the winmx folder
right click the winmx.exe icon inside the program folder and select properties from the drop down menu
then click the compatability tab and select win95 not windows 98

step 2 - download bluetack and install it
do not use their block lists
click import list and navigate the pop up window to your winmx folder find the pie auto updater folder open it up and go into the pglite folder there should be a file labeled blocking thats the one you want select it and hit ok
let bluetack run in the taskbar when u have winmx open
to stop interference and cut out the shutting down
click start open the control panel select control panel home ( if using the classic veiw) and underneath program select change start up programs then unselect the pglite
who needs a toilet when you have mando's mouth?
