Downloaded .zip.mp3 files, but they won't play in winamp

Postby Scotty on Sun Jun 06, 2004 6:46 pm

I have downloaded some files that have .zip.mp3 at the end of the filename. I thought this means they are zip files, but winzip doesn't seem to agree. They do not play on winamp either so i am unable to listen to them!

How can I listen to these files? are they mp3 or are the zip??

HELP!

final file extention is the only ones that matter, so would be mp3.

Try removing the .mp3 extention and then try to extract the files, you never know someone could have screwed with the file extentions and just added .mp3 after .zip

start > accessories > windows explorer > click on "tools" > then "folder options ..." > click on the "view" tab then scroll to find "hide extentions for known file types" and uncheck the box > click apply. That will make file extentions visible.

Find the file and rename it ie: music.zip.mp3 and change it to music.zip, click "ok" when prompted.

hopefully this will solve the problem

It's common practice on WinMX ('specially Oriental users) to add the applicable extension to a zipped file so that file will indicale what is inside the .zip. Beeza has it exactly right but don't forget to remove the dot as well as the mp3 Image

p.s. Pulling down the Tools menu in any explorer folder will get you to folder options quicker Image
