Doom 3 1.3 patch wont install...

the error is..."the file specified does not have valid installation of Doom3."
The file i have it as is Programfiles/doom 3..
It wont install...how do i get it to..

i figured out how to install it!

Extract Doom 1...that you downloaded...(if you havent already)
find the ORIGINAL Doom3.exe (this is what you click to PLAY the game)...replace the no-cd crack Doom3.exe with the ORIGINAL Doom3.exe..(this is the one that requires the disk..you will get an error message when you click it saying to insert doom3 disk)

after you have done this just double click the patch...and follow it

Ive been having a similar problem.

i had to manually install doom 3 from the ISO's i downloaded (by copying/pasting the files) because (as someone else mentioned on this forum) the ISO's when burnt to CD wouldnt work and the mounting of the images to deamon tools didnt work either.

now i want to update the game from 1.1 to 1.3 in order to play a mod (the classic doom mod) because at the moment when i try to load the mod the game crashes and/or comes up with "ERROR: invalid API DLL" or something, and i was told updating fixes this problem.

but because i did a manual install of doom 3, when i try to run the update .exe file it tells me that doom wasnt found on the system, and thus, doesnt update.

does anyone know of a way to get around this?

i thought that maybe replacing the doom3.exe file and the gamex86.dll file with the updated versions would do the trick, (without having to run the update installer) but i dont know where to find these individual files.

any help would be GREATLY appreciated, and if i get it working because of you, i will be your bitch for life.

I have the same problem as you Psychosis, trying to update.. I don't know how to do it.. Maybe it can be solved by creating some keys in the regeditor..

I've also had a problem.
I installed Doom 3 and then the patch, and had to reinstall Doom 3. After reinstalling, the patch wouldn't install, and it would say that the patch was already installed, but it wasnt. I would also like the updated files.
