Doom 3 expasion problems

I downloaded Doom 3 expasion ( Resurrection of Evil ) and I tired to install it, and it says it can not determine the version of Doom 3. I have Doom 3 DVD installed. Do I have to upgrade Doom 3 or something for it to see it?

Does it have an option to browse to your installation of Doom3?

No, after I enter my cd-key it just displays an error message and quits.

Have you tried reinstalling the original Doom 3?

Also does it show up in add/remove program lists?

Yes serval times, and yes. Also, I've tried a repair.

What version? Are you running the latest patches for Doom # original? If not, go here for the patches http://www.doom3.com/update.asp

ANd if that doesnt work, how about posting the exact text of the error.

Tried to install the update heres what it says.

"Setup could not determine the current version of your Doom 3 installation. Please verify that the game has been properly installed."

I know its properly installed. Stupid installers...

Oh, and it exits after I click out of the error message.

If you have the DVD version, don't use the installpath they have there use:
"C:\Program Files\ID Software\Doom 3 DVD" (without quotes) for anyone else having this problem.

I know it was something easy. .
