divx and xvid to dvd

hi
can anyone help, i have downloaded some good movies which are
divx or xvid is it poss to convert them to dvd so as to be able to
play them on a stand alone dvd player and watch them on tv.

...I would perfer convert to svcd (mpeg2) to minimize loss of quality. You'll probably find the option in the program somewhere.

What you should burn all depends on the resolution of the original video.

If it's something close to 320x240 or similar, use VCD. SVCD and DVD won't give you any better quality than VCD would in this case.
If it's something like 640x480 or 640x360, then use SVCD or a DVD. But if your DVD player doesn't play SVCD, and you don't have a DVD burner, then you will have to use VCD anyway.
