Corrupted files

Postby Ragdolz1 on Sat May 17, 2008 8:00 pm

I recently had all of my old computer programs removed and a new xp system installed. When I went to add winmx back to my computer, I turned off my virus protection and firewall, then attempted to install the newest patch version first, but at every attempt I get this message "The set up files are corrupted. Please find a new copy of the program". Any advice? We miss our winmx and were not having any problems prior to my new set up. Our previous Windows set up was xp also. Thanks, I look forward to a reply!

1. Close WinMX totally
2. Uninstall WinMX :
Click Start »» Settings »» Control Panel
Double click on Add or Remove Programs »» Remove WinMX
3. Search for WinMX.exe and Delete all found
4. Delete the WinMX directory:
Usually it's in: C:\Program Files\WinMx
5. Empty Recycle Bin
6. Install PieAutoUpdater »» from here:
http://www.vladd44.com/files/PieAutoUpdater.exe
7. Right click on Pie Auto Updater icon on your systray at the bottom right of your screen next to the time/date display and click Manual Update Now.
You will see the pglite icon disappear and re-appear shortly to indicate update is done.
8. Reinstall a fresh WinMX 3.53 »» from here:

Those are the exact directions I am following, but every time I hit the install button I get a message saying the files are corrupted and to find a new copy of the program. Any ideas??? Thanks

Then you must have some sort of Spyware/Malware controlling your system. Looks like a full scan would be best:

If that doesn't get rid of mebbe you'd better re-install XP from scratch (format included) but this time don't turn off firewall til you have a good anti-virus running AND don't turn off the anti-vir to get/install WinMX (not necessary & dangerous). :idea_big

Just be sure you get rid of your origional WinMX installer & use a fresh one from here: http://www.vladd44.com/mx/winmxmirror.php
