CODEC PROBLEMS

I have several avi files i need to split. But when i go into avisplitter and try to open a file it keeps asking me for Xvid.codec i have tried several codec packs but none will allow me to opent the files. Please can someone help me?

Considering this post was written in August of last year if Bullet hasn't split the file by now I doubt he/she ever will...lol...
