Coasters for sale :(

Postby Freez on Mon Jan 16, 2006 2:38 pm

Lately I have been making a lot of coasters because certain films have been encoded using QPEL. Is there a way to convert the files so that my DVD Player will play them? (Phillips dvp642)
Preferably a method that doesn't cause my puter (1.1 Ghz AMD Athlon) to explode..

Thanks :)

you don't need to make coasters, you can typically find plenty of free AOL CDs at most major retail outlets

You can reencode them, the easiest way in my opinion would be to use AutoGK - you can use this guide: http://www.rita.lt/guides/AutoGK_MPEG2toAVI.htm
THe guide is for mpeg to avi, but just pretend that it says avi instead of mpg because it works the same way. When installing AutoGK you will be asked whether you want to have your encodes standardized for an ESS chipset dvd player or non-ESS. Most avi-supported standalones are ESS chipset. QPel is mostly use with xvid encodes, but AutoGK will not use the QPel setting for xvid if you choose the ESS chipset standard when you install it. AutoGK will also not use QPel for a divx encode, regardless of which dvd chipset you tell AutoGK to encode for.
