Cannot get new music to play

Postby dsmit138 on Fri Nov 18, 2005 2:48 am

I have posted here before and never received an answer that would help. I have the winmx patch; I am connecting Primary only (don't know how to do anything else). I download a song, watch it's progress through the "transfers" window on winmx, but when I try to play the song, or look at it's properties, it says that it is an unrecognized file format (actually is an mp3).
I have tried typing the artist in the first line, and the "-c" in the second line to avoid fake files; I have allowed my virus scan program to allow winmx access. I don't know what else to do! I have even downloaded VLC in hopes that this program would play the song - no, it doesn't. It plays all the songs I have downloaded before winmx went wacko and I patched it.... I have changed my Incoming TCP connections to an odd number as well as my In/Out UDP packet ...

I have windows xp, a dell dimension 2400 .... don't know what else to do!

What program are you trying to play the MP3's in? (I'm guessing Windows Media Player?)

Try getting the latest version of Winows Media Player. Also, try foobar2000 or WinAMP instead.

Yes, Windows Media Player. I've downloaded VLC, too. Is foobar2000 a good player and is it free?

If it's a multisource download, message a few of the users with the file to see if they've checked it out. Sometimes a bad file with a good name will get distributed.
The invisible man is blind. If light passes through a body without being affected, then it cannot be properly refracted by the lenses. It won't be focused and he will constantly see a blur of random colors as lights hit the rods and cones from each direction.

Yes it's good, and yes it's free. You can pick it up at foobar2000.org. I recommend the Special package.

I use media player classic, but that's just me.
