Can't Search

After getting the connect light, I try to use the search option and get no results for anything. Is there a problem I don't know about? Thanks for your help

Hey henre5, what is the sentence u see on the left of yr Ignored button at the top of yr winmx (the Ignored button is the one with the red circle on it?) <<< pls answer this ... it is the 1st step to the troubleshooting process.

The patch is installed, the light is green but a search still doesn't have any results.

It says Click for help Live help at the help room. Ok I'm at the help page but see nothing to fix my problem

Where did u download yr winmx from?

What os r u using?

Are u on primary or 2ndary connection? If u r on primary connection, what does yr P and S values right on the top of yr winmx say?

Ok problem is my router. Now I have to figure out how to get around the problem without changing the wires around all the time. Thanks for your help.

henre5, if the problem is your router, you may want to try to portforward.

Yes I will. The only thing is that I'll have to figure out how to do that because I don't have a clue.

Don't bother with where it says "Click here to automatically foreward ports with PCConfig" .. that's for folks with more money than brains... the rest of Portforward.com is free & quite easy to use. Just follow simple steps. :stars

I should note that, this will NOT bypass a router config. It simply makes it so you rely on the other user to have their router configured properly.

Two users with the TCP port set to "Unable to accept" will NOT be able to download from each other.

By configuring your router properly it will ensure that you will be able to download from everyone Love helps in her room who has a router. As it seems that anyone who has their ports blocked she just has them set the tcp port to "Unable to accept" oops starting to rant here anyways...

Configuring your router properly will allow you to download from a lot more users than if you don't

heh I only get the weak primaries to do that. Not the strong primaries

The weak primaries will disconnect on primary anyway after router configuration is done. Better save their effort instead cos they stay connected better as strong 2ndaries instead of disconnecting badly as a primary

btw everyone I connected on TCP=unabled and UDP=unabled and on 2ndary had no problems with searching, downloading and uploading

If what Hollow said here is true... it has not happened to them yet

Hollow, ever seen a weak primary crash bringing with it all the 2ndaries it is connected to, en-mass of that will do what to winmx in general? Still want to encourage weak primaries who can barely stay connected as a primary to persist to be one and crash other 2ndaries and further weaken winmx on the whole? It is bad policy to even tell weak primaries to stay primary. They r better off as strong 2ndaries any day and can stay connected longer.

Relax, the ones I helped all can search and upload and download. If they can't, u will be rest assured they would be back

And they don't come back

Their problem was solved completely. It is human nature to keep coming back to yr helper until yr problem is totally solved

Strong secondary would be a secondary that can upload and download without being passive.
