Can't play song/album

Hi, I d/l'd a full album on WinMX and I cant get it to play.. I tried playing it in my windows media player.. but it said it didnt support the format.. it's just an mp3 file. can you help me? rachel

I don't think Windows media player is the optimal player for music, you'd be better off using Winamp or something more designed specifically for music...

A guess is that you might be missing a codec, for instance mp3 lame.

it might be an incorrectly named file - you get that error when windows cant play certain formats. Could try playing it in irfanview - Quicktime and RealPlayer (alternatives to the real programs ie: quicktime and realplayer, can be found here http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/finalbuilds.htm)

get dbpower amp music converter. it works great
should make it into mp3 lame and wma will work

Can't play album

When wmp won't play what is advertised as an mp3 (album or not) first investigate whether it is an ALBW (wrapped album) before ruining what MAY be a misnamed albumwrap. This string might help

If you play it with winamp you will probably ruin it's extractability (assuming it was ALBW) and if convert it to lame with dbPowerAmp you will for sure ruin it. :shock:
