Can't burn dvd because its .avi format

I downloaded the movie training day, which is .avi format and when i go to burn it with nero or dvd decrypter, it sais that I can't burn it because it's .avi. How can i burn this dvd movie? Should i change the format .avi to something else with some programHuh

Winavi will convert .avi to dvd format (.vob .bup and .ifo) which u can then burn with nero. DVD Santa is another that works.

Just to be a bit more specific, you CAN burn it, but only as a data file if you don't convert it to dvd format first. So if you burn it as data (ISO) you can watch it without converting it if you have an avi-compatible stand-alone dvd player. If not you have to convert it to dvd format first.
