bytes size for a beginner

Postby ree 67824 on Thu Aug 18, 2005 6:20 am

could you please help me with byte size for movies. Why do some only have half the size of the same movie? Does this make the movies not the same quality as the larger ones. As you can see i am only a beginner. THANKS!

While size isnt the definitive way to determine quality, Size counter

I typically go for files around 700 megs.

a larger file size can mean its higher quality, it could mean its longer (ie half the size could be just half of the film where many are cut in half...) or it could mean that its just using different codecs, for example a 700MB avi file using the xvid codec could be extremely good quality, yet a 1GB avi file using a "less efficient" (crap) codec could be terrible quality
