Burning cd's

Postby redhead007 on Tue Jul 11, 2006 1:40 am

I have always burned my.mp3's onto Imation discs, using Nero without any problems. Recently I was unable to get Imation so got some Verbatim and some Maxell discs. Since then I either get a "burn failed" message, or if the burn has apparently been successful - it's just blank when I try to play it. Surely all the discs can't be faulty! I plead ignorance about this topic, but feel sure there must be some adjustment I can make to make these discs usable. Can't let them all go to waste! Can anyone help??

If the files have very long names renaming them with a shorter name helps.

The same thing of burning successfully and yet playing blank happens to me as well read my problem here : http://www.vladd44.com/phpbb2/viewtopic ... 0117#40117

It was solved by shortening the file names by renaming them. After shortening the file names (leaving the extension the same) I found I was able to burn and play the burnt version successfully. I cleared some 30GB of free space, tks to Dap and V :)

About the burnt failed stuff... I realize u shd burn stuff when not running anything else on yr comp. Just running WinMX alone can take up to 40% cpu resources and burning with Nero can take up to 60% cpu usage. So if u only burn CDs and not run WinMX it greatly reduces the amount of failed burnts (at least for me). I used to have a 50% failure rate then after switching off WinMX and burning without running a single program I burn all CDs successfully. So yeah cpu usage could be a factor in yr failed burnts.

Try these 2 tips and see if it works for u :)
