beep alert

I have just installed winmx 3.43 on my new laptop which includes vista ultimate and norton. Everytime I select a file in search or transfers windows I get a horrifying "windows error beep". I installed 3.44 instead and the same. My sound is actually off within windows so I have no idea what this could be. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did you mean winmx 3.53 and 3.54 ? There is no winmx 3.43... and from where do you have it ?
Winmx doesn´t work fine with vista but take a search in this forum for vista
