Are you running version 5.2? if not get it here http://download.bearshare.com/BSPROINSTALL.exe that "should" fix the problem.

If after this upgrade you still have trouble with BearShare, please try the following:

With BearShare NOT running, look in the directory where it is installed (likely "C:\Program Files\BearShare"). You should see a couple of directories named "db" and "Temp".

First, rename "Temp" to "Temp2", then restart BearShare. If it works now, then the problem was somewhere in the configuration files now in "Temp2".

If that didn't solve the problem, then while BearShare is NOT running, rename "db" to "db2", then restart BearShare. If it works after that, then the problem was somewhere in the configuration files now in "db2".

what does this

GLibraryWatchDb.cpp (#176) Fatal Error: Unable to load library database.

Reason: Generic Failure

BearShare will automatically attempt to create a new database when it is restarted. Your old database files have been saved for possible diagnosis. Contact technical support for more information.

actually mean tho, whats happened, and is it like very very serious, or is it just something thats gone wrong with your bearshare????

The database bearshare created to keep track of active dls etc got corrupted on your comp, so its rebuilding. No it sucks, but its by no means a huge event.

TC wrote:You do not need to delete the entire bearshare folder, just go into C:\BearShare\db and delete everything in that folder. Sinply Running Bearshare after doing this, will force new, clean, uncorrupted files to be written.

That's the ticket, worked perfect. Thanks a million!

Not sure this will correct your problem, but it is worth a shot.

Go to bearshare folder and then the db folder. Delete or copy to another folder all the " LATEST " lib*.db files ONLY ( NOT THE LAST GOOD LOAD FILES OR OTHERS). reboot and all should work.

Files that no longer load should show in your console in red. To correct, go into your part files folder delete the .dat file and then change the .dat.bak file to .dat and restart bearshare.
