Bad news from China again... more than 6200 Babies poisoned

Postby Sable on Wed Sep 17, 2008 9:00 pm

6200 Babies are poisoned with adulterated bad milk. They put Melamine in it

Wikipedia:
2008 Sanlu milk powder recalls

Further information: 2008 baby milk scandal

In September 2008 Sanlu (part-owned by New Zealand's Fonterra Cooperative) recalled all powdered milk in the north-west China's Gansu province where melamine was reported to have been used in 22 brands of infant formula, making more than 6,200 infants ill. As of September 17, 2008 there had been three confirmed infant deaths from the contamination of powdered milk with melamine with a number of survivors diagnosed with acute kidney failure.

They did the same in 2006 with wheat gluten for animal food which was ordered from the USA. Many animals died because kidney failure.

But it comes worse..... after the first babies were poisoned China concealment this because they didn´t want bad news on tv while the olympic games !!!! If they said something many babies could be saved !!!

Thats typicall for a corrupted country like china which doesn´t care for their own people.

SHAME ON THEM !!

This isnt related to babies but...
I just discovered the other day that china has an entirely different set of rules on just about any product you can imagine.
Boring fact #1:
Bottle jacks. Small ones now have large ratings on the weight that they are specified to lift.
Both small and cheap, they appear to be greatly superior to the old ones that used to be made in the US, when a jack rated at 2 tons was the same physical size as the new ones from china rated at 4-6 tons.
A marvelous benefit of 21st century technology? Greater attention to detail and better materials??
Nope. Lower quality, more mass production, and slighlty 'altered' specs.
By US law, any jack made in america Must meet or exceed the weight rating on the label.
If it says 2 tons, it will definitely hold at least 2 tons without failure.
That law doesn't apply to imported goods.
China specs these jacks not as to the minimum they can handle without failure, but the maximum.
So, a jack that says 4 tons means it will most likely fail at 4 tons or more weight.
It also means it may fail at 2 tons, 1 ton, or 1 ounce, there is no tested, guaranteed minimum.
Such made up 'standards' apply to anything they make. From bolts to babyfood to electronics.
Remember when engines were falling off US jets? A chinese made bolt did that, with the correct markings to label its strength, but another set of standards as to the meaning of 'strength'.
Whats really sad is how the US allows this to go on when they could pass a law and force all imports to be treated just like they were made in Chicago, no exceptions, no way, no how.
