avi help... at a loss

Postby Tselner on Mon Sep 22, 2003 11:32 am

EDIT
okies someone told me to try skipping into the vid BEFORE the error popup...
....that works :!: :?: :!: :?: :!: I am going "huh :?: :shock: " whether it is a game-vid from http://www.thelostworlds.net/index.html (legacy of kain... still cant play his vid from the first game bloodomen1) or some anime(the few that bugs me) from winmx, it works to skip ahead and go back near the start when it has loaded.....
:evil: HOW THE BLOODY HELL :evil:
do I stop them from quitting out on me in the begining :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

(dont really know a good site to get help for something as specific as this, so dumping it on you people, hope you dont mind, but I kinda like peoples responses here :) )

PowerDVD, Windows mediaplayer and zplayer
all makes winXP get that annoying error report and closes =\

using Gspot the result was that I SHOULD be able to play them.
besides telling me the file is ok, and what codecs work, the rendering
showed this:

---------------
vid src type: 4cc: DX50
audio src type: MPEGLAYER3 (MP3) (0x0055)

vid path: (S) --> AVI Splitter --> ffdshow MPEG-4 Video Decoder --> (R)

audio path: (S) --> AVI Splitter --> MPEG Layer-3 Decoder --> TFM Audio Filter --> (R)
-----------------

so Gspot can render it, but my players cant play them...?!?

tried two different things:

1. Divfix (just incase).

2. Uncooking the files (new to uncooking but it worked for my "Hikaru no go" files)

No luck

so... HELP! hehe :P
btw it is different vids from different people I am talking about,
thought it was some random error to start with, but now I've come
to the conclution that either I need something or have something(codec)
installed that SOME avi's dont like, because I havnt had problems with
this configuration before... any thoughts appriciated.
(unless, these include something like: "format c:" or "uninstall+reinstall"...
the format one is just stupid and the other I've tried, and as gspot can render them, I am at a complete loss as to what is the problem?!?)

----installed codec's in said order (copy of my check list :wink: )-----------
