Asian character clarification + find source + reli

Postby Ultra?Plus on Thu Jan 02, 2003 7:11 pm

[1] I'm trying to download a file with Japanese characters in the filename using the resume trick. I want to clarify how to make that file a resumable download. Do I just need to concatonate the __INCOMPLETE__ prefix to the string of numbers that appears after "HASH>" if you "search for alternates" to make it resumable?

[2] When using "find sources", does WinMX search by name or by hash string?

[3] When getting a large download (200 MB or larger), I've never been able to successfully complete it in one try. I have cable connection and a primary connection to the network. What are some ways to make the downloads more reliable?

yes i cover that in the FAQ, its the INCOMPLETE tag along with the hash values at the end.

and for find sources..yes thats by hash values...as is find alternates.

Search for similar is the only one that uses keywords instead of hash

1) havent tried myself, but the name is made up of __incomplete_ + file name + HASH.xxx. i havent taken apart the file to know if there is anything special inside during a resume or not.

2) when using just "find sources" - it will do an exact file search (HASH only).

3) Download from a friend, or someone who wont cut you of in the middle of a transfer. RUDE people SUCK
