Ares Not Connecting. aresgalaxy.org Down. What's Next?

Well I've Tried Everything I Can Think Of But To No Avail, I Can't Get Ares To Connect At All. It's Been This Way For About 3 Weeks Now. I Open Ares And All I Get Is a 'Connecting' Message. I've Left It For Up To 4 Hours To See If It Finally Conects - But You Guessed It, No Cigar.
Thougt I'd Go To aresgalaxy.org To See If There Any Probs With The Network Or Software. It's Been 2 weeks and I Still get 'Connection Was Refused' Message. I Googled a Bit And Found a Reference To a Reg File Called Conecheck.reg That Supposedly Fixed The Connection Troubles Ares Was Having. Of Course The File Was On Aresgalaxy's Servers, But I Found a Copy On Another 3rd Party Website. Installed It, Rebooted Still No Connection. Uninstalled, Went Through Registry And Removed All References To Ares Plus I Ran a Registry Checker Just To Make Sure. Rebooted, Reinstalled, Made Sure There Was No Refernce To It In FW. Made New 'Allow' Rules In FW, Still No Connection. Applied Reg File, Still No Connection. It Was Working Fine Up Untill a Few Weeks Back. I Can't Seem To Find Anyone Having The Same Probs And Since Slyck.com Is Down, I Only Have Zeropaid And Broadbandreports To Rely On (Both Wonky Forums If You Ask Me)
Is There Anyone Who Knows What's Going On? Any Info Would Be Useful At This Point. Cheers.

PS: I'm Running WinXP SP2 . It Worked Fine On This Setup Before. No Hardware Or ISP Changes And The Windows FW Is Turned Off. I've Tried Changing Ports And Have Allowed Full Server Rights Through Te Firewalll. I Would Say P2P Port Blocking But Every Other P2P App Works Fine (WinMX - Kazaa - Bittorrent - Shareazaa ..etc)

Ares has been having a few issues lately, make sure your running the latest build, versions are all 1.8.1 at this point, there are build numbers after ( right click the ares exe, properties, then the version tab) there newest release is build 2960, and is running fine.

I have been having the same problem as well. For some odd reason I can't get Ares to connect. When I load it up it just says "connecting" at the top, but it never connects. So I went to the Ares forum to get help about it and it says I can't access the forum because they exceeded their bandwith. So my guess is the Ares network must be down.

Any more ideas? Any more help would be appreciated.

Well I just immunised my system of spyware because every day I got 30 new critical spyware stuff using lavasoft and search and destroy and guess what... ares stopped working. Lovely, switching over to eXeem

Use Adaware much more effective.

Actually not... for immunization best are the "Immunize" in Spybot S&D and Micro$not Anti-Spyware

you simply need to get the latest Build, and install over what you have

this will solve the conenction issues, all ares versions are 1.8.1
there are build numbers after, no need to worry, there site will ALWAYS have the latest build, d/l Ares, make sure ares isnt running, and install over it, all your settings will remain the same this way.

Just go to your network connections, and renew your ip adress, (repair), mine worked great after that.. also do the upgrade

hello, at the top of the page rite above where it says "Ares 1.8.1 is out!" above it you will see "home" "download" "Support" to the left a little... Click download and down load the regular one.

Heyya everyone!

I see there is some decent activity here, I have an Ares problem as well.

Since a couple of days I use Ares and have been hapily downloading some cool movies and all. Yesterday however, my ares simply stoped downloading, right now I have 15 downloads in que, but only ONCE in a WHILE it downloads a bit on one of them...

So, the rest are all on status ' conncecting ' for ever, but never actually connect and start downloading...

does anyone know what the problem may be? what I could do? I do have the latest version of Ares etc... and as I said, until a few days ago it worked perfectly!

similar problem here Zonnetje,some files download,and only ocassionally,but it usually just says connecting....even my uploads arent working too well,which means other people are getting affected too....
