well after 5 days of waiting, now works fine for me, i opened it everday for the past 4 days and nothing happened, today , i turned on my computer and clicked ares, hey it worked, who knows?

I was having the same problem, so i went to conrtol panel, and clicked "use sock5 proxy" and clicked "disconnect" then "connect" and its been working ever since

What i did ws go to the control panel in ares, went to network, and clicked check connection, then it said, "test passed" and connected.

The Latest and Greatest is actually 1.8.1.2967, and it isn't woking fine. For the past 3-4 weeks now. The creator of Ares is dumbfounded aswell, My advise is to look for another P2P program for the interm.

well i have found the same connecting prolem. ive found that if u wait long enough, it does eventually connect. everyone seems to be having the same problem everywhere, so i dont think its got anything to do with the version that u have got. it would be a shame to see ares go like kazaa, because kazaa was once spyware free too.

Ares is a piece of crap-Bring back WINMX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For days now my ARSE program wont connect.If it finaly decides to connect then all of my downloads are either localy paused or connecting.This is now beyond a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have downloaded the latest version a couple of times but that only works for about a day and the trouble is every time i download a newer version i lose the programs i was dowloading in prigress before!!!!!!!!!!! :twisted:

I am now so pissed off with this someone needs to die.I used Winmx for 2 years with no problems at all-boot up connect and start downloading straight away.Now with Ares if the program decides to connect all of my downloads then say connecting or localy paused-even left my pc on for 24 hours and nothing!!!!!!!!!
The problwm with uninstalling and reinstalling is that unlike Winmx which had a load incomplete feature i lose my partly downloaded files.Come on for christs sake please sort it out or get rid of Ares.
Ive tried SHAREAZA and thats even worse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Item 1. Ares Is NOT going like Kazaa did, by which I mean it doesn't include spyware with its downloads, PROVIDED YOU DOWNLOAD FROM THEIR SITE. www.aresgalaxy.org
Item 2. Ares network is going through some code f**k, but that kind of thing happens to any program, 'to err is human'. wait long enough and it will connect, provided youve selected a port that isnt blocked by your ISP and/or router and/or firewall.
Item 3. For those that have the problem of Ares files never downloading and are using older versions, Yes it does work like yahho in the sense that older versions wont connect correctly. Please visit www.aresgalaxy.org and download the newest version.

I think that pretty much covers it.

cabos is rubbish limewire is the programme to make ure computer slower, and it is shit. is u dont want ares then i suggest morpheous.

WINMX is dead unfortunately.
Screw ARES it is a headf@@@ never connecting/downloading always instaling newer version but problem still exists.
Have now gone over to LIMEWIRE-fantastic,connects instantly with quick downloads and i cant say it has SLWED down my PC at all.So cut out the hassle and stress of ARSE and go over to LIMEWIRE

I don't think Ares is the problem I think it's XP.

I've got a slave computer that runs win98 and Ares works fine on that comp.
On my XP comp Ares never connects (and I've tweeked it to death to get it working)

Both comps have the same version of Ares. Win98 works XP doesn't.

maybe try to download an older version of ares....there are connection problems rife thro the network at the moment, every 2nd person saying they either cant download or cant refresh the channels list...i'm currently using an older version and i'm downloading and getting channels....sometimes i'm having slight channels probs..

hmm this is very interesting....i noticed the same thing....i have my pc duel boot and was having issues with xp so had to load up 98 and my ares was fine.....xp however has a slight connecting issue which i have solved by using an older version, so i know those of u saying older version dont work simply isnt true....i am downloading just fine, my issue is a channels list issue.

tell you now no how it feels wait years for ares to connect

gave it time i try 2 days get it to connect it sucks cos takes time do that

and LIMEWIRE sucks it takes way to long download then ares

if like try a 2 p2p then ares get emule real fast on connecting

and more love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey
i got two pc's both with xp installed and internet connections from the same ISP. Ares works perfectly on one but doesn't work on the other

. what a bullshit problem is this. I have downloaded a few movies and some big softwares with the one that works. but i've tried everything i can with the other, with a big waste of time.

i've even used the same versions on both. there is some other problem in this.
