All downloads timout at waiting for incomming connection

Hi Folks,
In the last two days I have gone from dial up to DSL , and now all my downloads timeout at the waiting for incoming connection .
First I have checked my firewall for a window through for WinMx.
Second I have made sure the firewall Verizon installed is off.
Third I have made sure my security settings are at medium.
I do not have a router so that is not an issue
Also I have downloaded from these users before so I know I'm not trying to get fake files.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Verizon has been known to block p2p traffic. You could try:
1. Switch to "Non-Standard Ports" in Settings/Internet Connection OR
2. Switch to "Unable to Accept Incoming TCP" AND "Unable to
send or recieve UDP datagrams OR
3. Call your ISP and ask them if they are blocking p2p (they already know you're using WinMX so no harm getting it out in the open) OR
4. Google workarounds (others have had same problem) OR
5. Switch ISP (if you have this option in your area)

Thanks, the advise helped some . I've got some downloads going but it still is not what it was before. Ares works alright so I know I'm not blocked. I'll just have to figure out what setting is causing the problem

No, you know Ares isn't blocked.. WinMX could very well be...

Hi,
You're right, I have tried With my dial up connection ( fortunately I haven't canceled it yet ), and the problems vanished.
Thank you for your help and time , I'm just going to have to accept the fact that until another service provider with speeds faster than dial up is available here , WinMx is is out of the question. As much as I like it , It's not worth going back to dial up.

Try using Ares ports in WinMX .. change from default 6699/6257 to whatever Ares uses.... close Ares first tho.
